Basic Terminology

Fanning: Keeping the probe footprint in the same place, you are angling back and forth across the long axis of the probe.

Rocking: Keeping the probe footprint in the same place, you are rocking back and forth across the short axis of the probe.

Sliding: With sliding, you are moving the footprint across the body. Sliding can be done in any direction.

Echogenicity: A description of how well or how poorly an object reflects sound waves
