Required Views for Credentialing

**** ALL REQUIRED VIEWS MUST BE ATTEMPTED WITH A CLIP OF THE ATTEMPT SAVED WHETHER OR NOT IMAGE ACQUISITION WAS SUCCESSFUL. THIS ENSURES THAT WE CAN GIVE FEEDBACK TO HELP YOU IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS.

 

FAST: Must attempt ALL views for credit

1. RUQ 

     Morrison's pouch

     Costophrenic angle

     Liver tip and inferior pole of kidney

2. Subxiphoid

     Can use PSL as alternative view

3. LUQ

     Splenorenal space

     Costophrenic angle

4. Bladder

     Long and transverse views

5. Thoracic

     Lung sliding bilaterally

Cardiac: Must attempt ALL views for credit

1. Parasternal long (PSL)

2. Parasternal short (PSS)

3. Apical 4-chamber (A4C)

4. Subxiphoid

5. IVC

​

Renal: Must attempt ALL views for credit

1. Right kidney in long axis and short axis

2. Left kidney in long axis and short axis

3. Bladder in long axis and transverse axis

    Measure bladder volume for practice, but not

      required for credentialing

​

Aorta: You need first 3 views with measurements

1. Proximal aorta

2. Middle aorta

3. Distal aorta

4. Bifurcation (optional)

5. Long axis (optional)

Pelvic (transab and transvag): Must attempt ALL views

1. Uterus in long and short axis

2. Right adnexa

    Measure ovary if visualized

3. Left adnexa

    Measure ovary if visualized

4. FHR (if applicable)

5. CRL (if applicable)

Gallbladder: First 3 views are required

1. Gallbladder long axis

2. Gallbladder short axis

3. Gallbladder wall thickness

4. CBD diameter (try to get this, but if you are unable

    you will still get credit)

​

DVT: Must attempt ALL views

1. Common femoral vein

2. 2-3cm past the bifurcation of common femoral vein

3. Popliteal veins

​

Thoracic: Must attempt at least 2 views

1 & 2. Bilateral lung sliding

3 & 4. Bilaterally for B-lines

5 & 6: Costophrenic angles bilaterally

​

Ocular: Must attempt at least 2 views

1 & 2. Bilateral long axis

2 & 3. Bilateral short axis

​

Peripheral IV: First 2 views required

1. Clip of compressing vein

2. Clip mapping vein along its path

3. Clip or still of needle in the vein (if possible)
