Textbooks, Online Resources, and Apps

Textbooks

The majority of your reading for the elective will be from Ma & Mateer’s Emergency Ultrasound. The book is available in a digital version by going to Kindle Cloud Reader on your web browser.

The login name is “baystateemultrasound” and the password is “Ultrasound”. I can also give you a hard copy version of the book if you prefer. Please do NOT open the book on your ipad or iphone or other smart device, as I have a limited license. ONLY open it in kindle cloud reader on your web browser

Online Resources

www.emergencyultrasoundteaching.com

This is the main didactic website for the month. You should watch all the lectures under the tab “lectures” early in the month and again later in the month.

***BE AWARE: Cardiac US is taught slightly differently. The probe orientation is flipped but so is the screen resulting in images that should LOOK THE SAME as the way we do it. We can talk more about this.

www.sonoguide.com

A web-based educational guide that gives descriptions, videos, and graphics of different

emergency ultrasound applications.

Aps

There are few decent ones.

One-minute ultrasound is an ap which gives 60 second reviews of each exam type. Shouldn’t be used when first learning the exams, but a helpful review for the rest of your career.

Quick reference sheets
